Description

This widespread plant relative will fill in any empty space with their thorny canes, providing food and nesting sites for native songbirds. Their leaves have long been used by Indigenous peoples for tea and medicine, and support over 96 different insect species. The flowers attract primarily bees, with native bumblebees, cuckoo bees, leaf-cutting bees, mason bees, Halictid bees, Andrenid bees, and even invasive honeybees drawn to the nectar. And, of course, the berries are amazing!

Highly adaptable and with a penchant for disturbed areas like roadsides and logged forests, this plant will do well in almost any condition. Perfect for planting around fruit trees in a permaculture food forest or on the edges of you garden. The cuttings you will receive are from individuals planted by birds, and produce a large amount of fruit in shady conditions.
